Biography:
The Maine is a band from Tempe, Arizona and was formed on January 21st, 2007 by Pat Kirch. Garrett Nickelsen, Ryan Osterman, Alex Ross, and John O’Callaghan we’re the original members of the band. They named themselves after the song “Coast Of Maine” by the band Ivory. The Stay Up Get Down EP was the bands first album, and shortly after its release Alex and Ryan quit the band for unknown reasons. Kennedy Brock joined the band just after they left, along with Jared Monaco. The band then signed to Fearless Records, and on December 11, 2007 they released their 2nd EP The Way We Talk. In the summer of 2008 the band released their first full-length album Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop. Later in December a holiday EP was put out called .…And a Happy New Year. In 2009 the band joined Warner Bros. Records, and performed on the Vans Warped Tour, documenting their experiences in their book This Is Real Life. On July 13, 2010 the bands second full-length album Black & White was released. Later that year on December 27 the band released the LP In Darkness and In Light. The box set included a movie written by John, a book of lyrics, extra photos, a making of the the movie and LP, and a video of them performing their song “Growing Up.” After some trouble with the record label the band decided to self release their album Pioneer through Action Theory Records on December 6th 2011.
